Hello, I’m Vivienne Law. I’m a mental health nurse, meditation practitioner and trained mindful self-compassion teacher.

As someone who has always resonated with the notion of prevention before intervention - like dedicated my offerings to helping others live in line with this ethos - it came as quite a shock when I had my first experience of burnout.

I could see the finish line, a holiday was in sight but even still, I just couldn’t hang in there. FOMO, unrelenting standards and people pleasing swept through and turned my attention away from what mattered most, my happiness and health. Bit by bit, day by day the things that kept me well, fell away.

Self-kindness and compassion are not occasional practices. They are not to be reserved for when we are in dire need or having ‘earned’ them. They can resemble tough self-love and ongoing pursuit for peace.

For me this practice involved turning my attention towards how I was holding myself professionally and personally, even when I didn’t like what I saw. It meant saying yes to me and learning to watch the wave of shame and guilt pass by, trusting that in the long term this was what was best.

Coming home to the practice of Mindful Self-Compassion helped me be on my own side again. It has transformed the way I show up in the world and in my work, throwing myself into life my relationships and enabled me to provide heart-led, client-centred care, without losing myself.

And this is what I’d like to pass on to you. I wish for other kind-hearted folk to include themselves in the circle of compassionate care, as much as the people they serve.


So this is it.

Four days of complete choice, connection and embodiment of true self-kindness and compassion. 

An all-inclusive luxury experience, tucked away from the busyness of the city with everything for the kind-hearted folk to recalibrate. 

An opportunity to find yourself again through a variety of healing modalities and dedicated integration (read: free) time.

A space where you can feel seen and understood with your fellow kind souls (this retreat will take a maximum of 10 people).

It is my promise to you that you’ll leave feeling refreshed, grounded and with a renewed sense of self. It’s my mission for this to be a retreat that stays with you for life. So, more importantly, you’ll be leaving with the resources that support you to stay mindful, kind and caring with yourself as you continue to make an impact like the kind-hearted soul you are.

Location

Nestled in the heart of Shoreham only 100m from the surf beach, Atlas Retreat is a stylish and modern residence with luxury design features.

The property is inspired by the seven continents of the world and features a touch of culture in every room.

Atlas boasts comfort with spacious bedrooms, a multi-functional room (where practices and workshops will be held), an open space kitchen, living, dining area as well as a mineral spa & pool available for use.

Rest assured, there’s plenty of secluded nooks for reading or quiet time.

Meals

Self-compassion starts from the inside.

Our onsite chef Aliza from Shakti Fresh has got us covered with delicious vegetarian meals that will be sure to keep us nourished and nurtured. Aliza is a self-taught chef who turned her passion for a plant based lifestyle into her career. She cooks everything fresh, using only the best locally-sourced ingredients. And you can eat with ease knowing that all dietary needs are catered for.

All meals are provided but again, you are not obligated to eat with the group throughout. We do kindly ask you to advise us if you intend on opting out of a meal to minimise food wastage.

Downstairs rooms ONE ROOM LEFT (1 X KING OR 2 X KING SINGLES)

All downstairs rooms are able to be converted to one super king or two king single beds and are accompanied with luxury amenities, a large ensuite and space to store belongings.

Single occupancy

For attendees who desire solitude, please tick the box for single occupancy when booking. There is a $650 fee in addition to the above prices and this is required at time of booking to secure own room. Please note there is limited availability for single room occupancy.

Sample Schedule

6.45am: Morning movement (45 minutes)

8.00am: Breakfast

9.30am: option to attend AM workshop (1.5-2.5 hours) or enjoy free time

12.30pm: Lunch

2.00pm: PM workshop (1.5-2.5 hours) or enjoy free time

5.00pm: Free time

6.30pm: Dinner

8.00pm: Campfire chats, games night or sound meditation

Know that you are invited to participate, but never obligated. With all offerings optional, we hope that the element of choice gives you permission to mindfully check in with yourself and engage in the retreat in a way that most aligns with your intentions.

Bonus: CPD Credit

For those wishing to deepen their Mindful Self-Compassion knowledge in order to bring more to the clients they support.

A certificate of attendance will be available for health professionals wishing to use the retreat towards CPD hours. Hours will be calculated based on how many self-compassion based workshops have been attended i.e. 4 x 2hr workshops attended = 8 hours CPD.

But remember, this time is for you!

  • This retreat welcomes anyone who is doing more for others than themselves. You might be a caregiver, professionally or personally. You may be someone who struggles with boundaries, people pleasing, being assertive. You may be a manager of a team. You may be holding space for people in your life doing it tough. Or maybe you’re doing it tough and you’d like to be more kind-hearted towards yourself.

    You are all welcome.

    Professionals working (and students studying) in the following areas will find the workshops transferrable in client-centred practice:

  • You are able to secure your room on the retreat with a non-refundable $350 deposit. You’ll have until March 10th to pay the balance. You will be sent an invoice for the balance to be paid via bank transfer (please check your junk email as they do sometimes end up there).

    You can pay your balance in instalments, so long as the balance is paid before March 10th.

  • Deposits including single occupancy payments are strictly non-refundable to cover costs incurred prior to the retreat start date.

    Any additional payments made on or before before March 9th are refundable.

    Cancellation after March 10th is strictly non-refundable. If someone expresses interest and can take your place, you’ll be refunded the cost of your room less the deposit (including single occupancy fee where applicable).

  • All meals prepared will be vegetarian. If you have any allergies or intolerances please let us know in the client intake form (filled out at time of deposit) and we will work to accommodate these.

  • We want to ensure that everyone feels safe and comfortable, so if you wish to be paired with someone of the same sex, then we will honour this.

    That said, connection is at the heart of this retreat and in an effort to warmly welcome those of gender diverse communities, we will allocate twin share pairs as the bookings come in.

The default booking method is set for a bed in a twin share room. If you wish to secure your own room please tick the box for single occupancy. You will be required to pay the upgrade fee of $650 at time of deposit.
